Russian Railways Healthcare interiors and exteriors
Russian Railways Healthcare is the largest national network of clinics, providing medical care to people in nearly every region of Russia, including remote areas. Our studio developed the interior and exterior design for the network and created a guide to ensure that all Russian Railways Healthcare clinics, hospitals, departments, pharmacies and first aid rooms are uniformly modern, recognizable, cozy and convenient.
Soft tones, wooden textures and rounded furniture shapes create a sense of comfort and safety.
The walls feature a signature pattern that continues the fluidity of the new logo. This pattern helps to zone the space, highlighting important areas of the premises, and adds variety to the interior.
The selective use of black creates contrast, making the rest of the lobby appear brighter and helping to avoid the unsettling feeling of sterility.
The walls of the reception areas are decorated with “medical” inscriptions designed to make the waiting time more pleasant. Icons in a unified style further designate rooms and directions, simplifying navigation.
Entrances are adorned with volumetric inscriptions painted in the same color as the walls. These do not draw excessive attention and do not interfere with visitors’ orientation.
To assist designers, we also formulated key principles for selecting furniture, finishing materials and lighting.
Transit areas continue the style of the lobby, but zones that need to stand out are painted in the signature emerald color.
The nurse’s station is designed as a full-fledged welcome area with a counter and seating.
Rest areas are decorated with decorative panels made of stabilized moss and furnished with comfortable furniture.
Two design options are provided for all spaces: a standard one for regular clinics and a more striking one for flagship locations.
Hospital wards are decorated in calm tones.
In the doctor’s office, the atmosphere of cleanliness and formality is combined with coziness, created by warm surface tones and neat furniture.
Exteriors
To ensure that the clinics are noticeable and recognizable from the outside as well, guidelines for exterior design were developed in the studio.
The minimalist façade finish is complemented by inserts with wooden textures and panels in the signature color.
Different types of facilities have different façade paneling options. Pharmacies are marked with purple, while laboratories are marked with blue.
The placement of signs depends on the type of building. A contrasting frieze is used on new buildings, while on historical buildings, the signs are more restrained and are placed considering the architectural features.
At night, the entrance area is illuminated by lights built into the canopy.
Historical façades received beautiful nighttime lighting with the main vertical and horizontal elements of the architectural decor highlighted by soft glow.
All the rules for working with interiors and exteriors were compiled into a detailed guide that helps contractors design Russian Railways Healthcare clinics across the country beautifully and consistently.
