Overview Process
Watching the film, drafting some ideas, looking for metaphors.
Doing a photo shoot with the actors.
First sketches.
Picking a few favorites and showing it to the client.
The client wants to see the leading actress on the poster, while at the same time preserving the OMON theme.
Taking photos of the actress.
Working on the photos.
Coming up with new concepts.
Deciding to have two types of posters: feminine and masculine.
Confirming the concept with the client and moving on to production.
Retouching photos, making final adjustments.
Art director: The riot policeman on the feminine poster needs to have a more energetic pose. The silhouette on the helmet looks like letter I. So it appears to say “Break I Loose”.
Drawing the silhouettes.
The type designer is doing the lettering.
The lettering in draft title looked better. Using only the signature, keeping the old title.
Putting it all together:
The client doesn’t like the female silhouette.
With the film premiere date coming up, we have to scrap the silhouette idea.
Making final changes and sending it to print.
