Overview Process
Coming up with a new design for internal pages. We quickly get the idea to fill them with dots and lines that the owners would have to connect to get a drawing. Deciding that we need one finalized image as an example. Making sketches of the openings.
Typesetting and showing to the art director.
Getting his approval, starting to typeset the entire planner.
The illustrator draws seasonal openings.
Starting to work on endpapers. Looking at the illustrated openings and deciding that endpapers have to feature geometric drawings. For some reason thinking about arches of Belorusskaya Moscow Metro station and Grisaille ceilings. Getting inspired.
And drawing.
Trying different colors.
Approving the material and layout of the cover.
Making the corrections suggested by the editor and showing the mock-up to the art director.
Art director: Let’s add a star near the word “Moscow.”
Adding the star.
