Cover design for Helping People Change
Task: to design a cover for a book on helping people grow.
The authors of the book—Richard Boyatzis, Melvin Smith and Ellen Van Oosten—talk about a new positive method of coaching. The way to help someone learn and change, they say, cannot be focused primarily on fixing problems, but instead must connect to that person’s positive vision of themselves or an inspiring dream or goal they’ve long held. The method is based on compassion; relying on the person’s visions and dreams, it doesn’t meet resistance and stimulates continuing development.
The book is filled with probing questions and exercises that encourage self-reflection.
