Overview Process
First we need to take as many pictures of the interior as possible. And not only of interesting details but also of unremarkable ones—everything will come in handy.
Arranging the pictures in folders.
Putting floor plans in order.
Building models to help us find the best perspective.
Looking for the perspective. Since it’s only a draft, we don’t sweat over reproduction accuracy of the objects: right now they only match in size.
Drawing room lines in Illustrator.
Always checking with the photographs not to leave out the interesting stuff.
Drawing furniture lines based on the draft and the photographs. Paying special attention to details: almost every chair or table is unique.
The furniture is ready.
Trying to imagine what the illustration will look like on a poster and what the characters will be doing.
Time to color the rooms. For now, without the furniture.
Now the furniture.
And the details.
Once it’s done, moving on to the characters.
Adding captions, choosing products, placing logos and opening hours.
Done.
